Recently in a group, someone commented on one of our posts saying:
"Your labels are too expensive. I can get them far cheaper at [big company]."
And honestly? They’re probably right. You can get cheaper labels elsewhere.
But here’s the thing: comparing labels from one business to another, especially between a small business like ours and a large-scale manufacturer isn’t as straightforward as it may seem.
Not All Labels Are Created Equal
Labels may look similar online, but there's so much more going on behind the scenes. When you shop from a website, it’s nearly impossible to tell what you’re really buying.
For example:
- What brand of vinyl is being used? Not all materials are equal in quality or longevity.
- What kind of printers do they use? Advanced equipment matters for colour, clarity, and consistency.
- Who’s operating those printers? Experience in colour management and print technology isn’t something every print shop prioritises.
- Is consistency important to them? At large companies running 30+ machines, it’s unlikely your orders are run through the same setup every time which can result in unexpected colour shifts or sizing issues from one batch to the next.
These aren’t just minor details - They’re critical to producing a product that looks good, lasts, and reflects the quality of your brand.

LSS isn’t a mass production factory. We’re a small business, and we support other small businesses every step of the way. You wouldn’t compare a hand-poured candle from your favourite local maker to a mass-produced one at Kmart, right?
It’s the same with labels.
We don’t cut corners to compete with big-box pricing. We could buy cheaper inks from overseas. We could switch to low-cost vinyl from China. But we won’t—because we believe the little things matter when it comes to helping your product look its best.
We Care About the Details (Because You Do Too)
Every label that leaves our studio is the result of real, human care. Every day, we fix up artwork that others wouldn’t touch. Some big print companies will print your labels without bleed or alignment checks—we won’t do that. If there’s an issue and you can’t fix it, we’ll do our best to help.
That kind of attention to detail isn’t scalable. But it is valuable. And it’s what sets us apart.
