Revisit Your Brand
Is it time for a rebrand/facelift?
No matter where you look at the moment, the world is looking pretty grim. But as we know from other times of economic hardship and challenges, true innovation shines. While we are all laying low, now is a great time to sit back and reflect on our businesses, and work on the areas that up until not you may not have the time to do. A little work behind the scenes can go a long way in developing your business. The more we do this, the more we can lean on each other, supporting each other's businesses and get through these difficult times together.
When it comes to working on your business, one of the first things that come to mind is working on your branding. The team here work remotely and can work with you to develop your brand. We have several options for branding packages, whether you have a logo, or you need a new one. Have a look at our packages. If none of them fit what you brand needs, we welcome you to email us to work out a custom package for you at hello@longstoryshortdesign.com.au
Things that you can do over the next couple of months:
Refine brand story/brand voice
Happy with the aesthetics of your brand but struggling for content? Take some down time to reflect on the motives behind your business and how you communicate this to your customers.
Did you start your business because you wanted to know every ingredient that goes into your products? You wanted to flex your creativity and be more innovative? Write all of this down and let your “why” shine through in your website copy and social media posts. The story behind your business is often one of the reasons people fall in love with a new brand and it’s absolutely vital to connect with your online audience via storytelling.
New range
Have you been finessing new recipes or trying new fragrances? Why not start testing or check the last few boxes to get the new range up and running on your website?
New products are a fantastic way to increase the LTV (LifeTime Value) from your existing customers and encourage larger AOVs (Average Order Values).
Create offers for previous customers
Finding sales super slow? It’s a tough time and when people are unsure about the future, they can be feeling conservative and not wanting to part with their money. Creating offers for your existing database can be a simple way to get some quick wins with people who already love your brand.
Consider clearing some older stock with a discount, a buy X get Y deal, or spend over X amount to receive a % off.
Create new revenue streams
We realise how important cash flow is when the future is unclear. Increase your revenue streams by adding product lines, offering custom work to new customers (corporate, retail stores, weddings, parties), adding a wholesale option, selling on Etsy or maybe creating an e-book to share your talents with people who’d love to take in your knowledge.
Consider what your current capabilities are and what your strengths are and create a new stream of income to supplement your cash flow.
Set up a website
Don’t have a website yet? Why not use this time to build one?
Give it a go yourself on sites like Wix, Squarespace, Shopify or partner with a developer/designer to create a sleek and professional site.
Create email marketing or finesse what you have
Email marketing is said to have the best ROI (Return on Investment) of all marketing activities. Building a list of emails from people who want to hear from you about your business and products is a great way to grow your sales without too much effort.
Work with other brands
Collaborating with other businesses is a free and clever way to reach new audiences, grow your sales and flex your creative muscles.
Work together to create new products or offers and you’ll get an in with their audience, too.
Find a business or influencer with a customer base or followers that are your target client and approach them with your ideas to collaborate or work together. Could you write content for their website? Would they want to work together on a new product with you? The possibilities here are truly endless and collaborations can be a great way to make new friends.
Check in on your friends
Feeling scared and anxious is completely understandable at these times. We’re not sure which direction to move sometimes and it can be completely debilitating. Send a message to your friends and family and see if they’re ok, and try to speak to people about how you’re feeling.
A problem shared is a problem halved. We invite you to connect with other small biz owners in our private Facebook group, hope to see you there.
